Monday's new Moon in Aquarius is an annular solar eclipse. Partial phases of the eclipse are visible primarily from southern Africa, Australia, Southeast Asia and Indonesia. More information click here. A solar eclipse is a concentration of energy and signifies a time of both death and birth - the death of something old and outworn and the birth of something new. It is said about eclipses that the effects last in as many years as the eclipse lasts. This eclipse is 3 hours and 46 minutes, meaning it is laying down seeds that take us past 2012.

This solar eclipse has a very Aquarian energy with Jupiter, Moon, Sun, the Moon's north node, Chiron and Neptune all in that sign. Jupiter's contribution, especially, will magnify it's effects enormously. The Sabian Symbol for this solar eclipse is Aquarius 7: A Child Born Out of an Eggshell. As Barack Obama is preparing to become the 44th President of the United States, there is a huge gathering of energies in Aquarius, with 4 planets, the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune and the Moon's north node and Chiron in that sign. This is a big line up of Aquarian energy and is reminiscent of the flavor of the '60's when there was hope in the air along with winds of change in every direction. Obama being the 44th president feels quite apt as 4 + 4 = 8 which is a power and money number, built on the foundation and organization of the two 4's.

January's full Moon in Cancer is on the evening of Saturday 10th January in the United States and Sunday afternoon on January 11 in Australia (*see note below). This full moon is a very interesting one.
