One generation plants the trees; another gets the shade. Chinese Proverb
Woodman, spare that tree! Touch not a single bough! In youth it sheltered me, and I'll protect it now. George Pope Morris
Cut not the bough that thou standest upon. Charles Dickens
One that would have the fruit must climb the tree. Thomas Fuller
The forest laments in order that Mr. Gladstone may perspire. Sir Randolph Churchill
The full Moon occurring on Saturday January 30 is a wonderful degree of play, hope, protection, joy, security, childhood memories and the need to remember to put in the time to share and play and feel free with others. The Sabian Symbol is Leo 11: Children on a Swing in the Safety of a Huge Oak Tree. Oak trees infer enormous strength; the oak's strength, the hardness and durability of the timber, and its long life give the oak a special significance. In England, the oak has been referred to as the "monarch of the forest". Cowthorpe Oak in Yorkshire can hold 70 people in its hollow. It is said to be over 1,600 years old. The Ellerslie Oak, near Paisley, is reported to have sheltered Sir William Wallace and 300 of his men. Honour Oak in Tavistock was the place where money was left in exchange for food during the cholera epidemic of 1832.
Keywords for this Symbol include: Creativity in safe surroundings, being secure and privileged, social security and other forms of governmental protection, humanitarian agencies, agencies that bring food, education and basic needs to children in difficult circumstances, children, trees, grass, swings, parks, amusement parks, childhood memories, climbing trees, spontaneous activity, security coming through family and environs, safe confines.
The Oak, then, shows us the need to feel protected while we play or go about our lives with our friends, family, neighbors, etc. The Oak promises protection, structure, shade and sanctuary from the elements or those things that may be less secure or even harmful.
The Cautions include: Expecting others to take all the responsibility while one just plays, children not being looked after, disadvantaged people, desertion by government and big business, not wanting to grow up, always relying on others to provide fun, safety or shelter.
The Karmic Condition of the Moon is Leo 10 which also happens to be the degree of Mars = Mars is smack in the middle of this lunation. The Sabian Symbol for Leo 10 is Early Morning Dew Salutes the Sunlight. This presages an emergence from the dark; coming out of the night, possibly from experiences such as 'the dark night of the soul'. This can speak of the dawning of a new day and the new experiences of light, joy and hope that it can bring. However, some may still have the lingering effects of that long night. Play, being lighthearted and opening the heart can disperse feelings of separation or loneliness. As Mars is so closely involved in this lunation, there can be lots of emotion, loads of feelings and reactions and a sense of being 'up', agitated or eager to get going or to have your own way. Mars conjuncting the Moon and opposing the Sun can be very magnetic, passionate and arousing in many ways. Watch for knee-jerk reactions or people not fully understanding each other. First impressions may not give the complete picture as projections can be around with this aspect.
Adding to the concept of play is the issue of sensuality and sexuality with Mercury on Capricorn 16: School Grounds Filled With Boys and Girls in Gymnasium Suits. This brings up issues to do with bodies, fitness, learning to get along, the blending of the sexes and feeling free about your physical self.
Venus is on Aquarius 15: Two Lovebirds Sitting on a Fence. Commitments may be made during this coming month, ones that resolve issues that have been hanging in the air. On the other hand, the 'lovebirds' may just continue to sit on the fences that divide them. Perhaps they're waiting for a sign to either commit or separate. Certainly, issues to do with letting go of some people, jobs or memories is at the forefront with Uranus on Pisces 25: The Purging of the Priesthood. This speaks of deciding who is and who isn't going to be in your life = many are going to be making decisions based on who they believe live up to what's now important or will contribute to life in a productive, fun or healthy way.
As always, I look to the Sun on a full Moon as it sheds a lot of light on situations at the full Moon (the light of the Moon is the reflection of the Sun). The Sabian Symbol is a wonderful one: Aquarius 11 - During a Silent Hour, a Man Receives a New Inspiration Which May Change His Life.
The Keywords are: Welling creative power, inspiration = breathing in the spirit, coming to terms with one's reality, visionary people and events, being reborn, spiritual awakenings, meditation and reflective thought, intuitive awareness rising up into conscious awareness, spending time alone, thinking, contemplation, reversals, flashes of insight.
Whatever you're doing at this full Moon, whether it's having fun, swinging underneath that oak tree, being carefree or looking for direction, this full Moon is bound to change the lives of many. Seek that moment of inspiration and breath in the creative spirit that is indeed inspiration!
