The New Moon is on Sagittarius 20: IN WINTER PEOPLE CUTTING ICE FROM A FROZEN POND, FOR SUMMER USE
Among other things, I see this Symbol as the provision of food. In fact, the 20th degrees of mutables are about food (and resources). Are we putting things aside for this holiday season? Are we concerned about paying our bills? Having enough for the more 'difficult times'? Are we putting things in the cupboard for use at a later date? This Symbol can be about refrigeration, storage, air conditioning and even heating in the winter. It's about resources and how we use them and how we can plan for the use of them.
This Symbol speaks of the need for planning ahead. The people “In Winter” are “Cutting Ice From a Frozen Pond” – they know that they’ll need the ice for summer – they are thinking ahead so they can have what they need at the right time. Like these people, you'll have what you need if you allow for shifts in time and seasonal variations. Also, you may feel that you have lost touch with your emotions by creating a barrier, coming up with “Frozen” responses. This barrier can be overcome without great difficulty, just a little planning and action, and probably, a desire to work with others to build for your future.
Keywords: Overcoming difficulties ahead of time through creative solutions to problems. Strategies for survival in harder times. Stocking up and storing supplies. Savings and funds. Pension plans. Retirement plans. Work and renovation. Planning for changes in external or internal realities. Seeing shortages ahead of time. Snow. Ice. Freezing conditions. Divorce settlements.
The Caution: Stoic acceptance of difficulties. Not seeing ahead of the times. Failing to plan for the future and just hoping that it will work out. Sitting on your hands instead of working for future possibilities. People storing up hurts or insults for later. Extortion.
Mercury is on Capricorn 3: THE HUMAN SOUL, IN ITS EAGERNESS FOR NEW EXPERIENCES, SEEKS EMBODIMENT
I always notice when this Sabian Symbol is around. It is a fabulous promise of the human spirit being 'embodied'. It is amazing (as always) that the Sabian Symbols were birthed in a double-blind 'experiment' and yet, every year at Christmas time, this 'embodiment' degree is the degree of the Sun. This degree in it's literal sense, shows the embodiment of Christ, as, truly, that is what is celebrated at Christmas, however, there are many other ways to see this being made literal in our lives and the image is not confined to Christianity.
This Symbol shows being open and receptive to the messages of the world around you, as there is an expansion into a new understanding and a new way of life. Writing is an excellent way for the “Soul” to “Seek Embodiment”. Also there can be issues to do with one’s body. There can be many times of quiet; of inner contemplation and outer observance. Regardless of your more immediate, physical circumstances, there is an evolution of understanding going on. Unbounded enthusiasm is likely to be around. It may be useful to keep a diary or to write things down. Extraordinary events can happen with this degree.
Keywords: Inner motivation leading to expansion. Jesus and his disciples. Being "born" quickly. Manifesting one's desires without concern for consequences. Being "born again". Feeling like a changed person. The need to drop into the body. Religious and spiritual rebirth. Reincarnation. The urge to create. Writers and writing.
The Caution: Denying the growth that's beckoning in favor of social responsibility. Not leaving when perhaps one should. Having to seek permission to come through any "new gateway". A loss of faith. Being obsessed about an ideal or idea. Feeling cast adrift from one's reality.
Mercury symbolizes: Mind, thought, communication, memory, expression, intelligence. News, exchanges, chatting, conversations, short journeys, connections with others, telephones, emails, siblings, neighbors, the reasoning mind. Day-to-day activities. Cars, keys, small animals.
Venus is on Scorpio 8: THE SILVERY MOON SHINING ACROSS A BEAUTIFUL GEM OF A LAKE
This Symbol implies seeing things reflected in the world around. It can also show someone who loses the plot through not being able to differentiate reality from fiction, intuition from dreaming or what’s theirs from someone else’s emotions, thoughts or reality. Certainly, this speaks of depth in intellect, intuition and emotions. Whether there are hidden depths of not, there may be a strong sense of things being ‘reflected’, as the “Moon” reflects on the “Lake” much like a mirror. What needs reflection? Or less projection? Are things evaluated merely on a superficial level? Are you able to see things for how they really are? Look for signs you need to observe, and watch how life can be reflected around you.
Keywords: Reflections. Mirrors. Things mystical and alluring. The 'Narcissus' story. Picturesque scenes. Picture postcard images. Peace and beauty. Halloween and magic. Escapism. Placid emotions. Peace and quiet. Contemplation and meditation. Having a reflective nature. Photographs. Psychic abilities. Hypnotic charm or manipulation. Beaming faces. Projections based on appearances. Mars is on Libra 17: A RETIRED SEA CAPTAIN WATCHES SHIPS ENTERING AND LEAVING THE HARBOR
This Symbol speaks of the necessity in life of finding time for quiet recollection. You may feel that the stormy, unpredictable, emotional life is something you can, or need to, leave behind; to opt out. But like the sea captain, there will always be the frustration in the desire to return and get back amongst it. An objective and calm understanding of life's experiences is available, but know when to rest and when to be active and work as merely looking out at the world from a confined perspective and feeling like you have no choice but to sit and watch is unlikely to bring the world to you.
Keywords: Memories and peaceful contemplation. Disconnection from the past. Concentrating on more immediate circumstances. Fatigue and the need for rest. Being a spectator rather than a participant. Being part of an audience. Voyeurism. Turning to domestic pursuits. Writing one's memoirs. Nostalgia. Safe ports or harbors. Retiring from public life.
The Caution: A cop-out, escaping from reality. Relying on past experiences. A need to defend one's shoreline. Losing faith in life. Staring at lost opportunities and times gone by. Not wanting to contributing any more. Losing interest in the struggle. Disillusionment. Frustration. Boredom.

This Symbol implies having the talent, skills, training and discipline to be able to tame wild energies like those of a “Lion”. It is not that you need to extinguish powerful emotions and energies, but by skillfully manipulating what’s going on, these very wild emotions and energies will perform in a way that makes you the victor. Self-discipline and mastery are needed, along with being well rehearsed for what you are doing. There's a need to put fear behind you and to go for it – perhaps rushing in where angels fear to tread. The question is: How trained are you and prepared for the consequences?
Keywords: Having faith and courage in your abilities. Sublimating animal instincts. Control. Fearlessness. Professionalism. Extremism. Adrenaline rushes. Dangerous spectacles. Training and conditioned responses. Restrained passion. Coordination and skill. Superheroes. Holding the whip.
The Caution: Needing to be in control. Believing that things are dependent on your direction. Showing off and boasting. Plunging into situations, physically or emotionally, that are inherently dangerous without regard for the consequences. Overplaying one's abilities. Dominant attitudes. Taking on anything and anyone.

You may find yourself as either the experienced or the inexperienced or possibly finding the mother within you guiding your own inner child. Uranus is on Aries 17: TWO PRIM SPINSTERS SITTING TOGETHER IN SILENCE
This Symbol shows that quiet withdrawal might be just what you need. However, it is easy to become isolated in conservative, albeit moral, ideas. You may find that there is only a select, restricted group with whom you wish to associate. There can be a quiet knowing that does not need a lot of words or emotional displays. Just be wary that this false sense of security doesn't isolate you from change and growth. Unresolved issues can lead to stunted emotional responses. Look for opportunities to open up to new possibilities.
Keywords: The need to loosen up emotional blockages. The struggle to hold onto one's original identity. Compromise because of social expectations. Meditations that communicate. Neptune is on Pisces 8: A GIRL BLOWING A BUGLE
This shows sounding the call, rallying people together, knowing when to speak or “Blow a Bugle” to awaken others, to wake up to realities going on in the world, join some cause, etc. Perhaps you feel the need to wake up those around you, or, perhaps be woken yourself. When situations get bogged down in emotional or rational complexity and everyone just needs to be rallying and going for the objective, you may be the one to let everyone know. Sometimes this Symbol can show someone who makes a lot of noise; justified or unjustified and they can get people moving. Using simple, receptive innocence will get situations back on track.

The “Toys” in the “Hospital” can be healing tools of any kind – it doesn’t matter what type or modality; if they bring relief and joy to someone’s life, they fill a need. Chiron is on Pisces 18: IN A HUGE TENT A FAMOUS REVIVALIST CONDUCTS HIS MEETING WITH A SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE
This shows hearing or delivering important messages, decrees or rules for living, making sense of spiritual instruction, seeing who’s an authority worth listening to and who’s not. Seeing through false intentions or messages could be one of your objectives now. You may need to organize and stage a display to promote, teach or disseminate, bringing a feeling of community in a common goal. With the power to influence or sway groups of people, there needs to be a feeling of moderation and the ability to listen as well as speak. This can, however, picture situations of hysteria or overstating one's case. Is the audience listening? Is the cause just?

The Moon's North Node is on Virgo 28: A BALDHEADED MAN IN UNIFORM WHO HAS SEIZED POWER
This Symbol shows a personality that “Seizes Power” and takes hold of situations. The fact that he’s “Bald” implies someone with experience, perhaps older, someone willing and able to take a stand and take charge. This pictures times to seize power and push forward with decisions that need to be grounded. It is by force of will that solutions will be found, but one must be careful to temper situations as displays of masculine will can get out of hand very quickly. This degree sometimes needs to be handled with caution as it can mean having people in one’s life that bully, push and demand.
Keywords: Dominating other's mental space. Male hormones running rampant. Issues to do with hair. Ponytails. The story of Samson and his hair. Taking positions of power. Uniforms. The “Fertile Garden” signifies that you have things that you need at your disposal. This Symbol has a strong clairvoyant sense to it, with the ability to pick up on subtle energies and life forms in the environment.
