One picture is worth a thousand words. Proverb
Nature is a revelation of God; Art a revelation of man. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Art is the lie that makes us realize the truth. Pablo Picasso
Fine art is that in which the hand, the head, and the heart of man go together. John Ruskin
Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colors flowers, so does art color life. John Lubbock
Art has no enemy but ignorance. Romanian Proverb
A painting in a museum probably hears more foolish remarks than anything else in the world. Edmond Jules Goncour
The creative act is not performed by the artist alone; the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act. Marcel Duchamp
The Libran new Moon, occurring on Friday, September 30 in the United States, and on Saturday morning in Australia, is a very interesting and promising new Moon. Conjunct (closely together with) Jupiter, it can bring about many good things in our lives, with breakthroughs, good luck, the desire to break free of onerous limitations, seeking expansion, seeking abundance - all kinds of wonderful things can appear with Jupiter so strongly accented.
It's interesting to note that the next full Moon, occurring on October 15/16, is almost exactly conjunct Uranus, so, we are ramping up the energies to finding our more authentic sense of self in amongst all of the things going on in around us.
All is usually good, positive and wonderfully rewarding with Jupiter around, however, there can also be philosophical, political, religious or spiritual responses that can bring up the differences between people. We have been seeing that a lot this year already, and, this new Moon could ramp up that energy. The political maxim of 'divide and conquer' has been showing up a lot - when, truly, we need to unite in common causes to make the world a better place for all.
The trick with Jupiter is not to overdo or overplay, to think twice before acting and then being confident of your decisions - to measure a few times and cut once, as they say. Staying positive, upbeat and open to the new can break down all kinds of barriers that may have kept you from having what you want. As I have been writing about recently on my website, we have had/are having a lot of activity going on on the Super Galactic Center (in particular, Jupiter transiting over it), click here and click here to read more of what I've written about this fascinating and potentially very rewarding transit.
Things do somehow feel like they are easing, particularly as the Saturn/Neptune square is waning now, *thank goodness*. We might now feel a sense of moving towards our objectives without finding obstructions and brick walls in the way. You can listen to my take on this Saturn/Neptune square - recorded in June - to find out more of what we've been experiencing lately with this. Click here to listen. Now, it's much more a time of breaking free. And, your mindset will have a lot to do with what happens now.
This is a fabulous time of learning, as well as teaching. Jupiter is on Libra 4: A MAN TEACHING THE TRUE INNER KNOWLEDGE OF THE NEW WORLD TO HIS STUDENTS - so much insight, information and 'inner knowledge' can come through now that it can be rather surprising. Listening not only to wisdom that is coming from the 'outer world', but also listening to the wisdom coming from our 'inner world' can be incredibly enlightening, especially now.
Ambitions can be stirred at this new Moon, and this can be a very good thing (if we're not going head-to-head with others), with Mars squaring both Jupiter and the new Moon. Mars is on a brilliant degree for 'manifesting one's self' as it is on Capricorn 3: THE HUMAN SOUL, IN ITS EAGERNESS FOR NEW EXPERIENCES, SEEKS EMBODIMENT.
Big decisions may come from this new Moon, as the Sun will in the week following will square Pluto in Capricorn - this can lead to more insights and realisations, and, some situations, relationships, issues, etc, may come up for reappraisal, and, there may be some endings and goodbyes said. Pluto, which has just gone direct, has spent some weeks on a degree that speaks about 'healing', or, the need for it, and, with Chiron and Mercury opposing each other, this is a perfect time to listen to The Stories That You Tell Yourself - Chiron/Mercury is perfect for this.
This is a very long newsletter. I felt to include all of the Karmic and Quest degrees (the before and after degrees) as they are all so incredibly meaningful.
Mission Statement: I am about to make my website completely open to everyone. I had a huge realisation this last weekend, as I began writing this newsletter, that I should just set it so that everyone can use, enjoy and learn from every part of my website. So, I am no longer asking for paid subscriptions. This work is about sharing and teaching the Sabian Symbols, and, I had the realisation that I can surely rely on the support and goodwill of those who enjoy this work.
Walter Russell, my very favourite teacher, said, many, many years ago, that nature, the Universe, everything is about giving for regiving. My site has been rather dormant for some time as I have not had the funds to pay those whose expertise I need, and, I have not been able to devote myself to it. I want to regularly do more audios and videos, and, I want to get a good podcasting platform on my site. Writing another book is on the agenda, too - I am continually getting messages about how important that is. Lessons and tutorials are also on the list of things.
It's all rather exciting, but, I need your help. I have very nearly walked away from this work in the last few months. I certainly don't want to do that, and, I feel that I have recently had a big turnaround.
This new Moon is exactly (almost to the very minute) on my MC - the part of the chart that talks about career, and, I can feel the energy welling, and, Jupiter is about to pass over my MC. I can feel the abundance and good energy around me. The Sabian Symbols are, indeed, strongly seen in the degree of this new Moon - the 'Old Masters Hanging In An Art Gallery' - indeed, it is the degree of Marc Edmund Jones' Sun - ME Jones was the astrologer, who, along with Elsie Wheeler, gave birth to the Sabian Symbols.
Thank you so much to those who have donated! I am so grateful... onwards and upwards - with your help. This link makes it very easy to donate, a little or a lot, it all helps! (PS, I do understand that there are some who love this work who don't have the funds to contribute - sending good thoughts and energy never goes astray).
Thank you! PayPal.Me/LyndaSabianSymbols
The new Moon is on Libra 9: THREE OLD MASTERS HANGING IN A SPECIAL ROOM IN AN ART GALLERY, SOMETIMES THEY SEEM TO SPEAK TO EACH OTHER - the following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom:
Commentary: ‘Three Old Masters’ are ‘Hanging in a Special Room in an Art Gallery’. Being ‘Masters’, they are very valuable, especially as they are ‘In a Special Room’. The paintings are timeless, and can be so lifelike that ‘Sometimes They Seem to Speak to Each Other’. Time often doesn’t seem to exist in this realm. ‘Rooms’ that are empty, except for art works on the walls, can feel like something is going on at another level. Even when there’s nobody actually there, it can seem as though conversations are being held. The eyes of the paintings can appear to be watching what goes on around them. It can even feel like the eyes actually follow you around the room.
Oracle: Communication here is at a completely different level than is normally experienced. It can be unspoken, and include subtle messages that are enduring and valuable. Going deeply into understanding truths about art, our cultural inheritance and its significance can bring about realisations and revelations that expand one’s mind and life. This Symbol can picture speaking to others about abstract concepts on a higher level. Everyday chatter that doesn’t go deep or explore life’s beauties can become mindless and mundane. Go deeper into your situation. Find solutions as different parts of your personality and psyche give you clues or tell you what you should be doing or where you should be. Focus during quiet times, times of introspection when people aren’t around to distract. The solution may rest in balancing the three agencies: spiritual, physical and mental.
Keywords: Truth in the image. Intuitive vision. Reverence for art, form and tradition. Images bringing messages. Art collections and collecting art. Photographs. Capturing life in a work of art. Furniture of a period. The art of placement. Beautiful images. Wisdom speaking. Crowded galleries or empty rooms. Images that speak volumes. The Sabian Symbols as images. Minds that don’t shut down. Animations.
The Caution: Undue reliance on conservative values. Too much importance placed on appearance instead of substance. Snobbery caused by elevated feelings of importance. Art’s rarefied atmosphere that excludes others as unworthy or uneducated. Serious faces.
The Karmic Degree for the Moon is Libra 8: A BLAZING FIREPLACE IN A DESERTED HOME - this is the degree before the full Moon - when the Moon is just about to be full. Keeping the 'home fires burning' is the major message from this Symbol.
This Symbol implies the ability, or the necessity, to provide warmth and reassurance in times of emptiness, loss or desertion. You may need to remember that even in times of real loneliness, when you feel separated from your ‘centre’, there is a constant, unseen, sustaining energy always ready to welcome you home: whether it be the fire of your own spiritual centre, the warmth and familiarity of family and kin, or a knowing that one is sustained by humanity at large. You may need this reassurance yourself or you may be the one to help others in their hour of need.
Keywords: Security and comfort left behind. A fire left blazing inside to reassure. Wood for burning. Gas, electricity connections. Holiday homes, or homes that are rarely visited. Homes filled with love, if not people or possessions. The warmth of the heart. Holding a candle for someone who's gone. Fertility issues. Heart and hearth. Fireplaces. The place to which one returns.
The Caution: Isolation, separation, abandonment or bitterness. Sabotage by or of loved ones. Being forced out, possibly for social reasons. Divorce. Latchkey children.
The Quest Degree for the Moon is Libra 10: A CANOE IS APPROACHING SAFETY THROUGH DANGEROUS WATERS - this is the degree that first the Moon and then the Sun move onto after the time of the exact full Moon. See yourself coming out the other side, more intact, more able to deal with life's challenges... smooth waters coming.
This Symbol speaks of getting through difficult times in life and coming out the other side. It
also infers being able to bring calm reassurance that a time of calm is approaching. The difficulties may have been arduous, but they've added to your experience to cope with any difficult times that are yet to come. The calm is a time to review what has past and how you've come through difficult straits. Realizing that you're on safe ground brings a sense of relief, and it will give you time to catch your breath. You may be the kind to go white water rafting in order to stir up your life somewhat; if there’s nothing whipping up around you, you may go looking for it.
Keywords: The calm after the storm. Navigating difficult straits and coming out okay. White water rafting. Skydiving and other risky activities. Rough waters vs. plain sailing. Recovery. Remission. Light at the end of the tunnel. Personal initiations. Trials of test and defeat. Being stoic. Retaining dignity and graciousness. Exercising care and restraint. Avoiding over exaggerated enthusiasm. Deliverance on many levels. Salvation. Staying on track.
The Caution: Failing to rest. Taking foolhardy risks with the belief that all will be O.K. Freezing up and not moving. Shooting more rapids. Steering into dangerous waters.
The new Moon each month marks a time of new beginnings and realisations. It's like a birth after a time of gestation or being 'in the womb'. Here, the light begins to return and we can see new beginnings and possibilities. A new Moon means that the Sun and the Moon are both together - bringing a synergy of their energies together. The new Moon is a perfect time to set your intentions for the future. This period is wonderful for planting seeds of whatever kind. What do you want to manifest in your future? Whether you write it down, sing about it or just hold the thought forms in your mind, doing this at the new Moon can realise some fabulous results around the things that you want to draw into your life.
Mercury is on Virgo 21: A BASKETBALL TEAM - teamwork!
This Symbol implies joining with others and working as a team to achieve common aspirations. You may be into doing things by yourself, but you’ll still have interactions with others who will mould how you do things and how you’ll perform. There is a need to cooperate and play by the rules of the game to achieve your goals. Friends and those with similar interests will be able to join with you to achieve a mutually desired end. Are people hogging the ball, not passing it on to others? If so, that won't secure a ‘win’ for you or for the team. How would a referee call that?
Keywords: The give and take of unity and equality. Everyone getting to play the game. Joyful participation. Friendship and sport. Fast footwork. Winning and losing. Being in the team. Playing fair and square. Coaching and practice. The need for a level playing ground. Uniforms. Codes of behaviour and play. Locker room antics. Individual commitment to a group effort—that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work. Vince Lombardi
The Caution: Forcing others to compete on the same level without regard for differences. Finding it difficult to play by the rules or cooperate with others.

This Symbol shows the desire of moving on to new thoughts, new lands, new ways of doing things, possibly even on to a new way of life. Setting out on a venture can lead you to “Promised Lands”, even if it’s sometimes somewhat risky to leave the safety and stability of home to strike out for unfamiliar destinations. Whether you are with someone or going alone, you are probably not really alone as there are likely to be others who share the same impulses. Having a map of where you're going helps, as will a willingness to meet new people. The trick is often in deciding where the “Promised Lands” are and what you’ll do when you find them.
Keywords: Venturing into life with like-minded companions. The support of others in a quest for the future. Seeking new territory. Rallies and caravans of cars. Exchanging money. Commerce. Buses, caravans, trucks, etc. Leaving behind the known for the unknown. Gypsies. Hollywood. California. "Boom" towns. The "magic bus". Conferences.

A “Fellowship Supper” can help connect with old friends, or provide a place for meeting new ones. The “Dentist” has to find out what’s wrong in situations, to perform a diagnosis in order to restore the function so they work smoothly and efficiently once again. This Symbol shows being open and receptive to the messages of the world around you, as there is an expansion into a new understanding and a new way of life. Writing is an excellent way for the “Soul” to “Seek Embodiment”. Also there can be issues to do with one’s body. There can be many times of quiet; of inner contemplation and outer observance. Regardless of your more immediate, physical circumstances, there is an evolution of understanding going on. Unbounded enthusiasm is likely to be around. The Karmic Degree for Mars is Capricorn 2: THREE STAINED-GLASS WINDOWS IN A GOTHIC CHURCH, ONE DAMAGED BY WAR - picturing the 'Stained-Glass Windows' being perfect again can lead to a healing on many levels.
This shows the need to have a strong sense of self, a strong constitution or a clear sense of belief in the goodness of the world. This pictures the need to stay strong under the barrage of bombardment. One of the three corners of unity, in this case the one of love, is damaged and separated by the aggressive nature of mankind. With the shattering (the “Damage”) of the “Window”, there is often a loss of faith, hope and trust. Acceptance of love can lead to a healing on many levels. As Leonard Cohen says "there is a crack, a crack in everything. That's where the light gets in".
Keywords: Seeking sanctuary. Careless aggression where love should be. Religious or philosophical differences that spark off problems. Fears of being "under attack" whilst in the spotlight. Sorrow and despair over losses. Loss of faith. 'Windows' that are cracked, broken or smashed. Cracks and shattering. Rescue of endangered holy places. Loss of love through harsh circumstance. The Quest Degree for Mars is Capricorn 4: A GROUP OF PEOPLE ENTERING A LARGE CANOE FOR A JOURNEY BY WATER - with Mars here, make sure that you're all on 'the same boat'.
This degree shows journeying with others. Each person brings with them their individual stories, their needs and wants. They come together to accomplish something, to set out for somewhere. To embark on a journey with a number of people is to embark on an emotional discovery, along with learning the rules of society about interacting with others. With cooperation, and everyone heading in the same direction, there can be great success. You may find episodes when different and separate aspects of your personality come together to explore where you’re going. The trick is, are you all headed in the same direction?
Keywords: Cohesive effort, cooperation and coordination. People coming together with a shared goal in sight. Being continually on the move. Feeling like one's on a 'Journey' of destiny. Jupiter is on Libra 5: A PERSON TEACHING THE TRUE INNER KNOWLEDGE OF THE NEW WORLD TO THEIR STUDENTS - Libra 5 is one of the degrees of the Super Galactic Center. With Jupiter here, we can learn much, and, we can find teachings everywhere we look. This speaks of moving into a whole new realm of understanding. The early degrees of Libra are a very powerful run of degrees, and, the Super Galactic Center is said to be where 'the Mind Of God' resides. These degrees are very much tied into the Law Of Attraction. Time for some affirmations.
This Symbol implies the gaining of wisdom and the passing on of knowledge to others who are receptive to the teachings. It can also show ‘channeling’ of pure instinctual knowledge. Whether you are a “Student” or a “Teacher”, information is available to you and others and there’s much to be learnt. The “True Inner Knowledge” may be conventional teachings or wisdom, although it’s more likely to be more modern concepts that are being passed on as this is about “The New World”. Insight, knowledge, and, experience are present. Conventional certifications of knowledge, such as diplomas, are probably not important; it's what's being brought through that's important.
Keywords: Guidance and protection on the path. Being a guiding light for others. Imparting knowledge. Wisdom. Looking for truth. Seeking answers to complicated questions. Listening and learning. Turning to others to receive guidance. Speaking one's truth. Instinctual knowledge. Pioneers on the path. Teachers and students. Secrets of the new age.

There is a common focus here amongst the “Group” that opens up to creative and enlivening possibilities. There may be the feeling of being ‘out there’, in the ‘wilderness’, and you may be in some way, whether you’re miles from anywhere or you’ve been brought together by something very unique or unusual. It may be important to keep in mind that you don’t have to go alone; there is a “Group” of people who share the same beliefs and concerns. Gathering with them will lift your spirits. The Quest Degree for Jupiter is Libra 6: A PERSON WATCHES THEIR IDEALS TAKING A CONCRETE FORM BEFORE THEIR INNER VISION - this is a brilliant degree of manifestation.
This Symbol is one of the few Sabian Symbols that speak directly of the idea of the ‘law of attraction’; as a person imagines, so does their outer reality take shape and bring to them what they were imagining. In your life you’ll find vivid examples of thoughts manifesting as things – other times they may happen without you really realizing it. Ideals are not only bought into the light of reality but they are put to the test. This shows the ability to be able to visualize your thoughts and feelings and it possible to project your creative ideas out into the real world. What you think will happen can happen.
Keywords: Vivid confrontations with one's objectives. Creative visualizations. Imagining things. Meditations and affirmations. Ideas crystallized. Putting things out into the universe. Making things happen. Seeing things take shape and form. Clairvoyance. Film making. Writing and getting published. The power of manifestation. Solidification. Builders. Sculptures. Dreams.

This Symbol shows being able to proclaim one’s feelings, beliefs, love of country or political opinions, without feeling they are likely to be criticised, shot down or dismissed. Our highest ideals can be expressed proudly, like “A Flag” and as an expression of spiritual purity - “The Eagle” at “Dawn”. You may find that you are regularly moved to burst forth with your ideas, giving voice to what you think and feel. However, some may not like the message or what you have to say, how you say it or where you say it. However, issues that are really worthwhile and 'centred' will be seen by many and heard in the clear light of day.

The Karmic Degree for Saturn is Sagittarius 11: IN THE LEFT SECTION OF AN ARCHAIC TEMPLE, A LAMP BURNS IN A CONTAINER SHAPED LIKE A HUMAN BODY - remembering your physical self!
This Symbol implies seeing the body as being ones “Temple”; something to be honored and given respect, exercise and good nutrition. It also pictures linking the spirit and the body. Logic is not always involved in this equation – this mostly speaks of emotions, spirit and physicality. Sometimes we need to remember to be 'in our bodies' and this shows the rewards that can come from regarding our body as our temple. There’s a need to sleep and exercise when we need to, to eat when we need to; to be alive and happy. However, if taken too seriously, one can forget to nourish their mind, preferring to concentrate on physical attributes and forgetting about other possibilities.
Keywords: Connecting the left and right sides. Working out, physical fitness and exercise. Yoga. Grounding reality. Sexuality. Realizing that body is the same as spirit. Remembering to be in the body. Light workers. The acceptance of the body and its functions. Sport and its physical rewards. Metabolic rates. Oil burners. Gas lamps. Aladdin's lamp. The Quest Degree for Saturn is Sagittarius 13: A WIDOW'S PAST IS BROUGHT TO LIGHT - secrets and inner issues revealed.
This Symbol implies revealing issues, secrets or problems from the “Past”, so they can be dealt with. There are issues which will be “Brought to Light”. Perhaps your past catches up with you, or, people in your family or circle of friends have stories, histories, deeds, acts or personalities that need to be handled with care and tact. There is often a healing as things that have been kept ‘closeted’ lose some of their charge when they come into the light of day. Although you, or others, may be in a reasonably sympathetic position in the eyes of others, some may not like what is revealed. Bring issues to 'Light' where they can be healed, forgiven and, hopefully, forgotten.

This Symbol shows that your mind is, or should be, open to possibilities that are being 'blown' in from the realm of spirit. There is an abundance coming, shown by the Cornucopia, which will be self-sustaining. This degree suggests that with the slightest change in direction your fortunes could change as well. Look for out-of-the-ordinary opportunities and possibilities. Realizing that in one's everyday life, one has it all. Open your windows and blinds and let air and sunshine in and watch good things follow.
